How to Sign-up for a Medicare Plan?

 
Most people should apply for Original Medicare during the seven-month Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) surrounding their birthday.

Suppose you don’t sign up for Original Medicare when first eligible and don’t qualify for an exception. In that case, you can enroll in Medicare Part A and/or B during the Open Enrollment Period (OEP), which runs from January 1 to March 31 each year. You may have to pay a higher Part A and/or Part B monthly premium penalty for late enrollment.
     
Most Individuals need to sign up for Medicare Part A, hospital insurance, and Medicare Part B, medical insurance when they reach 65. You can do so online or through your Social Security Office.

You can sign up for Part D, prescription drug coverage, and potentially change plans during the appropriate enrollment periods.

Participating sales agencies represent Medicare Advantage [HMO, PPO and PFFS] organizations [and stand-alone PDP prescription drug plan] that are contracted with Medicare. Enrollment depends on the plan’s contract renewal with Medicare.

Not all plans offer all of these benefits. Benefits may vary by carrier and location. Limitations and exclusions may apply.
